BEST GEORGETOWN HAPPY HOURS
While most would argue that a day in Georgetown is not complete without visiting the designer boutiques lining the streets, we would argue that a visit to the bar is just as important. These narrow streets are often flooded with students from Georgetown, American U, and George Washington making for a lively bar scene 7 days a week. Newer alternatives stand shoulder-to-shoulder wit tried and true older Gtown establishments offering something for every taste. Among the most well-known are:
One of Georgetown’s best known and popular happy hours, this venerable Wisconsin Avenue institution. The friendly barkeeps at J.Paul’s will supply you with all the 1/2 priced apps you and your mates can handle. For those of you that are math challenged, JP’s is pouring wine, rail, and drafts all for only $5 each. So one crisp Andrew Jackson will get you well on your way to tipsy town.
Next up is Thunder Burger and Bar, which is consider by some to be Gtown’s premier happy hour. From their sinfully delicious nachos to their innovative entree specials, this banging bar’ got it goin’ on. Their happy hour is easy on the wallet with 1/2 off beer specials and $5 bites. We say “…Come on feel the Thunder”.
The Tombs (Monday-Friday 3-6)
No visit to Georgetown would be complete without a visit to The Tombs. Perched on the edge of the Georgetown University campus, this iconic haunt has been in business since 1962. Never wanting to stress a starving students budget, the Tombs’ already low drink prices get downright subterranean at Happy Hour. There’s nothing better than throwing back a $3 Goose Island and enjoying the preppy college vibes. If you can’t handle another day of Ramen, turn to their tasty $5 apps. Hoya Saxa!
For a more upscale experience, the ENO wine bar adjacent to the Four Seasons Hotel, offers a fabulous value with their $5 wine specials. For a mere $5 per glass you can enjoy a sublime Syrah blend, a perky Spanish white, or a sensual Rose. Be sure to pair your pouring with some of Eno’s delicious cheeses as recommended by their cheesemonger, Jason. Expand your knowledge of fine wines and cheeses without having to take out a second mortgage.
